Happy Friday!

I am so glad it's Friday! I feel like I have made it through another week and stayed on track. I walked a little over 3 miles last night in the dark with a nice strong wind. I'm sure my neighbors were wondering what the heck that crazy woman was doing walking so late. Our neighborhood has to be the darkest subdivision I've ever seen. The homes are so spread out that what little light shines from the front porch or front of the homes is minuscule. We do have a few short street lamps but they don't dispense much light. Let me tell you, it is kind of creepy walking around in the dark with all the dogs barking at me!

I love being outside getting my exercise. I strapped on my IPod and took off. About 1/3 into my workout my IPod lost its charge. I do not like walking without music. It's boring and way too quiet, except for my loud huffing & puffing! I will definitely make sure to charge that baby next time.

I feel pretty good today. My jeans are starting to feel a tad bit looser and I'm definitely feeling better. I have a love hate relationship with exercise. I absolutely hate doing it but I love the feeling afterwards. I just need to figure out how to stop hating it so much during the process.

I ate more veggies yesterday and stayed within my calorie count. Today, I plan to eat well and exercise again tonight. I will probably hop on the spin bike and ride for an hour. Nothing like some fast pedaling to get the blood pumping.

Daily Challenge to Stay on Track

Last night did not go as planned. I went home from work with a horrible stomach ache. I was all psyched to work out but by the time I got home all I wanted to do was hit the bed. God bless my husband for taking care of dinner and the girls. He is a lifesaver!

I'm so obsessed with losing weight right now that I was just devastated that I didn't feel well enough to exercise. I got on the scale this morning and somehow I think it should miraculously go down but it didn't - it's still the same.

It is so easy to put on the weight and so hard to take it off. Now that I'm 39 my metabolism is super slow and I'm realizing that I will have to step it up a notch to get back to where I was. It's such a bummer!

I struggle with eating every day and wonder why I'm so obsessed with food. Food should be for fuel not for emotional fulfillment. I know I'm not alone in this but it really stinks! My body is God's temple and I must take good care of it. Slowly but surely I'm doing better everyday.

Today, my goal is to eat more veggies and make myself work out tonight. It may be the spin bike (if my rear can tolerate it) or it may be the 30 day shred. I'm anxious for the weekend so I can walk my awesome dogs. They need the exercise just as much as I do.

What's your goal today? Eating smaller portions, skipping fast food, working out, passing on the candy? Little by little we will get there!

New Direction

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted anything. So much has happened that I don't know where to begin. My husband lost his job out of the blue (which is so common these days) back in July. He's been a stay at home dad ever since even though he is diligently looking for a job. He's had a few interviews but no bites yet. I must say though, it's been a great learning experience (how far we can stretch a dollar) and it has worked out tremendously well for our kids.

I decided it's time to take my blogging in a new direction. Honestly, I'm bored with talking about my pain and frustration in my marriage and a big part of the problem is my attitude. I need to focus on me instead of him.

I decided the first thing I need to do is lose some weight. I'm really disgusted with myself right now since I let myself go. I used to ride my spin bike 3-4 days a week and walk on alternate days. Now I'm lucky to get in any exercise. I've been on an emotional eating binge for over a year and a half and gained 25 lbs. I feel terrible and look terrible in my eyes.

Last week was the beginning of a new me. I completely cut out all fast food and set an exercise goal of working out at least 2 times. I set my calorie intact at 1200 to jump start my diet. I met my goal and even survived Halloween candy.

This week I feel much better. I'm down a couple of pounds and rode my spin bike twice already. Tonight I plan to do the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. I hear it's a great work out and will be a nice change to spinning.

If anyone is up to the task, join me in my adventure to become a healthier, happier person. All it takes is one positive change in the right direction.
